Shea Weber himself all but guaranteed that he will play for the Nashville Predators next season after his team was eliminated from the playoffs. Even though Weber told reporters in Nashville “It’s going to get done” back on May 11th, when referring to a new contract, some observers still believe that the restricted free agent to-be can be had for a sizable offer sheet.
Predators general manager David Poile effectively said that money will not be an issue by answering his own hypothetical question: “Will we be able to sign Shea Weber? The answer is yes”. This means not even Glen Sather could pry Shea Weber away from the Nashville Predators, no?
Still, we’ve got some dummies out there that think team X has a shot at Shea Weber.
Now Barry Trotz has joined the discussion and he’s got a message for Detroit or any other team that thinks an offer sheet is their golden ticket to beard land:
“We’ll just match it,” Trotz told Sporting News. “I can tell you, whatever they offer, it’ll just get matched.”
I think we can close the book on this discussion.
