With two days off between playoff games, we all needed something to talk about. Thankfully, Roberto Luongo came through when we needed it the most. He famously stated that the goal Tim Thomas allowed in game five would have been “an easy save” for him due to his positioning. When the world exploded over that comment, Luongo said “I have been pumping his tires ever since the series started. I haven’t heard one nice thing he had to say about me. That’s the way it is.”

Tim Thomas replied by saying “I guess I didn’t realize it was my job to pump his tires… I guess I have to apologize for that.”

Of course, we did some digging and found out that the Tim Thomas/Roberto Luongo relationship goes back much further than previously known. Luongo has been searching for acceptance from Thomas for a very long time, only to be shut down at every turn.

Sadly. We’re not aware of Tim Thomas returning any messages.

  8. this is hilarious.

i think Luongo’s comment was misinterpreted. wonderfully, hilariously misinterpreted, but misinterpreted none-the-less.

the comment wasn’t directed at Thomas, but at the media.

“i say good things about thomas and you media are critical of me, but thomas says nothing about me and you don’t portray him as nasty”

which is still pretty weak, in that is upset at the media for being rough on him .. but it isn’t the plea for affection that it has been interpreted as.

that said, it is way more fun to pretend that it was for the purposes of humour : ]

  9. .. and i suspect there will be many bicycle tire-pumps in the stands tonight.
