All eyes on the kids

It’s draft day, and we’re hoping the Philadelphia Flyers don’t steal all the kids’ thunder by trading Chris Pronger, Kimmo Timonen, Brian Propp, Dave Poulin, Tim Kerr, and Brad Marsh before the day’s out. We’ll continue to run some draft related content throughout the day, with John Matisz (aka “The New Guy”) dropping in with some draft coverage as well over the next couple of days.

The great Rick Moldovanyi will be holding it down at HOTH this evening with a running timeline blog of all the night’s action. You can stop by and obsess over who’ll go where as Rick obsesses over which kind of chips to eat first. The over/under on large bags of chips consumed by Rick this evening is set at three. I’m taking the over.

Mike Richards on being dealt to L.A.

Highlights of the Mike Richards trade conference call, via L.A. Kings Insider:

“I probably wouldn’t have signed the deal, actually, if I knew I was going to be traded. But I was fortunate enough to go to L.A., where I’ve heard nothing but tremendous things, not only about the organization but about the city and how nice it is out there and how great the organization treats you. Obviously when I signed that extension I wanted to stay in Philadelphia for the rest of my career. That’s what I envisioned, probably up until 2 o’clock or 3 o’clock this afternoon, when I got the call. it’s unfortunate. Nobody likes to be traded, but I feel like I’m going to a team where there’s a good chance that we’re going to have success there, and we have good players in position and a good organization. Hopefully we can take that next step together, and I just want to be there and help out any way possible.”

Predators new look?

On the Forecheck gives us what could be a sneak peek of the Nashville Predators new sweaters, and all we can say is YELLOW.

New deals

The Habs re-upped Andrei Markov for three years and the San Jose Sharks have signed Devin Setoguchi to a three-year, $9 million deal.

The mystery of Daniel Sedin’s broken Ted Lindsay Award

On to more pressing matters, like finding out who broke Daniel Sedin’s Ted Lindsay Award in Vegas. Our money is on a jealous Henrik Sedin in the green room with a lead pipe.

Where are they now?
