Boston’s Brad Marchand had his day with the Stanley Cup on Monday, which kicked off with hockey’s Holy Grail getting filled with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. After his complete breakfast, Marchand took the Cup to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax and then took part in a pair of celebrations around the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Marchand should be fairly accustomed to this exercise by now, even if it is his first with the Stanley Cup; the mayor of Halifax, Peter Kelly declared January 12th 2008 ‘Brad Marchand Day’ for the Hammonds Plains native’s gold medal performance with Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championship:
Whereas The residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality wish to recognise the outstanding achievement of Brad Marchand as he represented Halifax Regional Municipality and Canada at the 2006-07 and the 2007-08 World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden and Czech Republic; and
Whereas Brad Marchand, became the first two-time Canadian Junior Hockey Gold Medalist, born and raised in Hammonds Plains in the Halifax Regional Municipality, has returned to our community; and
Whereas The residents of Halifax Regional Municipality wish to convey their best wishes to Brad Marchand on his debut today with the Halifax Mooseheads Hockey League;
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Peter J. Kelly, on behalf of Halifax Regional Council, do hereby proclaim January 12, 2008, as Brad Marchand Day in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
We’d assume that at some point during a Brad Marchand Day that there would be copious amounts of alcohol consumed and that roughing up feeble men while giving up five inches is commonplace. You can sign us up for at least half of the activities of any given Brad Marchand Day.
