The Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand finally put an end to summer long negotiations as they agreed upon a new deal on Wednesday. Pierre LeBrun of ESPN/TSN reports that the deal is worth $5 million, with Marchand receiving $2 million this season and $3 million in 2012-13. The annual cap hit is $2.5 million (obvious math!).
Marchand became an RFA this summer after wrapping up the final year of a three-year $1.77 million deal in grand fashion by scoring 21-goals as a rookie and turning in an outstanding 19-point playoff performance in 25 games en route to a Stanley Cup win with the Bruins. Not to mention he earned a reputation for punching opponents in the face befit of James Butler.
With $5 million, Brad Marchand can purchase somewhere in the vicinity of 1,000,000 boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
