Gambling may not necessarily be your thing, to which I say “good on ya.” But even for someone like yourself these lines have to be somewhat entertaining.
For the rest of us who do like to rid ourselves of money because remember that one time I almost hit that 15 team parlay, the following lines over at bodog are awfully tempting.
Answers in the comment section please: which ones are you picking?
Will the Montreal Canadiens fire Jacques Martin before November 30, 2011?
This has been the conversation of the day. While it won’t make me much money, I’m still putting it on no.
This bet to me wouldn’t be much different if the date were October 30th. Basically, I think their team is badly underachieving. I don’t believe it’s possible that they could continue this level of sucktitude. So, they’ve either had it by now and are going to gas him soon, or he’s going to stick around, the team will improve, and he’ll make it to the end of the season.
Will the Calgary Flames trade Rene Bourque during the 2011-12 regular season?
Also selecting no on this one, if not for the biggest reason: a lot of things have to be right on both sides for the trigger to get pulled. When the majority of your team is on the downhill of the age-game while wearing skis, keeping a 29 year old quality player is probably the right idea. They can make it work….can’t they?
Will Steve Yzerman be the General Manager of Team Canada’s men’s ice hockey team at the 2014 Olympics?
Everything Yzerman touches seems to turn to gold (get it). He’s a smart man, beloved by Canadians like myself, and classy as all get out. It just seems like too natural, too easy of a fit for him to end up in that chair when all is said and done. Pay me my money, Bodog. I like this yes pick.
Will the Ottawa Senators trade Sergei Gonchar during the 2011-12 regular season?
I’m not sure what they could get for a guy who’s looked as poor as he has. Some picks? Don’t do that to those fans. You know he has talent and you know your team is short on it, so simple math: I don’t think they will trade him, no.
And my favourite bet….
When will the Washington Capitals lose their first game of the season?
Thursday, October 27 at Edmonton 3/2
Saturday, October 29 at Vancouver 2/1
Tuesday, November 1 vs. Anaheim 15/4
Friday, November 4 at Carolina 7/1
Saturday, November 5 at NY Islanders 10/1
Any Other Game 12/1
Obviously the lowest odds come earliest, so those games don’t pay out. But, if they get by Vancouver there’s a chance to make some money there. Couldn’t you see them getting through another few games then losing to Carolina or the Islanders? (Nice upcoming schedule for them, by the way.)
So, they call it gambling for a reason. I’m going to take my ten real dollars and plunk the money down on the Islanders, facing an 11-0-0 Capitals team in Nassau Coliseum. Don’t let me down boys.
