"Did you see that? That was awesome" - Ryan Callahan (above)

If you didn’t watch the Rangers and Sabres duke it out tonight, you missed one heck of a SHORTHANDED goal from Rangers captain Ryan Callahan.

The setup:
With Brandon Dubinsky in the box for boarding, the Rangers send out their penalty kill.
After killing 1:27 off the power play, Ryan Callahan tips a pass by Christian Ehrhoff intended for Jason Pominville. Callahan then proceeds to win a battle with Pominville along the boards and gets into a foot race with Ehrhoff down the wing.
The two meet at the faceoff dot to the left of Jhonas Enroth where Callahan does a half spin to protect the puck before he turns and shoots it underneath Enroth and into the net.
How did it get through Enroth? Nobody knows. The fact of the matter is that it did, and it culminates in one of the best shorthanded goals you’re going to see.

  1. That’s the same shot BizNasty used when he scored HIS last goal. What a copycat.

  2. I’m sorry, but that was all enroth fucking up. Callahan should never have scored there.

    • You can’t ignore the insane effort to generate that scoring chance. Great job to intercept the pass, than win a foot race from a dead stop, then hustle it down the wing before anyone can backcheck, and then fend off the defender who plays it positionally perfectly.
