There were a couple beauty saves made in the NHL tonight by Detroit’s Jimmy Howard and Calgary’s Miikka Kiprusoff.
In Pittsburgh, a diving Jimmy Howard robbed a diving Evgeni Malkin and a diving James Neal to keep Pittsburgh’s lead to one goal. The Red Wings came back with four unanswered goals and beat the Pens by a 4-1 score. That’s the definition of a game changing save.
In Nashville, David Legwand will be having Miikka Kiprusoff nightmares for at least a week. Kirpusoff robs Legwand twice on identical cross-crease pad saves. They say you only get so many chances in hockey to put goals away, and here’s proof of that. Legwand finished the night with one assist.
It’s not easy being David Legwand.
Which was better hockey faithful? Howard’s last ditch effort or Kipper’s Legwand deja vu?
