It’s Christmas Eve and I’m sitting on the coach digesting an isnaly large meal when I realized that with all the eating, I had not checked twitter in a while. I did just that and let out a cackle at Leafs head coach Ron Wilson’s tweet:

This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a certain piece of paper in my stocking. #whatcouldthatbe

I was far too full to get all riled up again at Wilson, but I did laugh at where we have come in the sporting world. I know we are in the age of social media, but to lobby for a contract extension on twitter was something new. As you probably heard, Wilson got that “piece of paper” he wanted from Santa. Obviously, the deal had been done when he sent out the previous tweet, but let’s say for the sake of this post, that is was on fact a Christmas Miracle. That Ron Wilson asked for something for Christmas on twitter and got his wish granted. If that was the case, then there were a lot of people in the hockey world that were upset that they didn’t do the same thing. If they did know that there were Christmas Miracles up for the taking, twitter may have looked something like this:

Alexander Ovechkin

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs some goals in my stocking.#ISwearGaa

Last season was the worst for O.V as far as goal went. This year he is actually behind that pace. He has just 12 goals in 34 games, last year it took 29 games to hit that mark

Scott Arniel

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa DOESN’T put a certain piece of paper in my stocking. #PinkSlip

Who would have thought that six coaches would have lost their job before Christmas and one of them was NOT Scott Arniel???

Gary Bettman

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa makes it colder in Philadelphia #WeAreScrewed

Day before Winter Classic weather forecast: 9 degrees Celsius

Day of Winter Classic weather: 3 degrees and and chance of rain. Could we see this game cancelled?

Eric Staal

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs some pluses in my stocking. #DeadLast

Stall has the worst plus minus in the entire NHL. He presently sits at -22. His previous career worst, -10.

Randy Cunneyworth

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a gift card for some french lessons in my stocking

I don’t think he actually wants this, but it would shut some people up

Ilya Bryzgalov

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa gives me new huskie #HumangusBig

I just really wanted to put the hash tag Humangus Big in this post

Sidney Crosby

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a new brain in my stocking.  #EnoughIsEnough

This one is pretty obvious

Cam Ward

Tweet: This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a goal in my stocking #Don’tEvenWantToShotItIn

Holy Crap this one actually came true!
