It’s Christmas Eve and I’m sitting on the coach digesting an isnaly large meal when I realized that with all the eating, I had not checked twitter in a while. I did just that and let out a cackle at Leafs head coach Ron Wilson’s tweet:

This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a certain piece of paper in my stocking. #whatcouldthatbe

I was far too full to get all riled up again at Wilson, but I did laugh at where we have come in the sporting world. I know we are in the age of social media, but to lobby for a contract extension on twitter was something new. As you probably heard, Wilson got that “piece of paper” he wanted from Santa. Obviously, the deal had been done when he sent out the previous tweet, but let’s say for the sake of this post, that is was on fact a Christmas Miracle. That Ron Wilson asked for something for Christmas on twitter and got his wish granted. If that was the case, then there were a lot of people in the hockey world that were upset that they didn’t do the same thing. If they did know that there were Christmas Miracles up for the taking, twitter may have looked something like this:

Alexander Ovechkin

Last season was the worst for O.V as far as goal went. This year he is actually behind that pace. He has just 12 goals in 34 games, last year it took 29 games to hit that mark
