Jonathan Toews is currently out of the Chicago Blackhawks lineup with a concussion, and the news today likely didn’t help speed along his recovery – he was in a single car accident, and left the scene in an ambulance.
All reports are word of mouth at this point, but it sounds like he’s healthy and well. Here’s Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune:
Tribune contacted phone number belonging to Jonathan Toews via text and response was “it’s nothing serious at all.”

The picture above is his AMG Mercedes-Benz (from 25Stanley.com), which shocked me more than this story. That car is sick, and for some reason I assumed he drove some sort of station wagon, or a smart car, or a van…I dunno.
He hit a support beam of “The L,” an elevated train in downtown Chicago. Still no word on why or how the accident occured.
Hopefully the reports are accurate and he’s doing fine. You can see more pictures at the site that first reported this, selfish-indulgence.com.

UPDATE:
Update: Blackhawks say Toews “absolutely did not” leave the scene in an ambulance. Will remove from blog when out of traffic.

Somehow I get the impression that your mental image of Toews and the mental image of Toews shared by a few thousand women is quite different. ;-)
I do hope he’s OK.
I hear he slammed into a van to save a guy who knew who Batman was.
Haha! Good one. I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the picture.

He thought it was a kid?

It’s worth noting that Captain Serious was you know…DRIVING…with a CONCUSSION. Seems like someone might want to ask him about that since he was wearing his “bad idea jeans” and all.
