"Hello, tiny human" -Chara

When you talk about the greatest defencemen of this generation you would be remiss to not include Zdeno Chara. The man is a freak of nature in multiple ways – size and strength being to go-to attributes of course – and is a surefire hall of famer.

The Bruins honored him for his 1,000th career game on Tuesday after Chara hit the mark on the Bruins latest road swing. Tonight wasn’t any less of a celebration because he did it away from home though, Big Z recorded three points against the Lightning in Boston.

Watch the ceremony.

With 1,000 games in the books I have to ask…

What’s your favorite Chara moment?

Mine has to be his consistent demolition of pucks in the hardest shot contest.

  1. Can’t get any better than this:

  2. My favorite moments- any 2-on-1 where Chara is the defender. Almost 100% of the time, he’s breaking that up no problem.

  3. It’s fun to watch Zdeno help the Boston crew lay down the rink markings every year – he stands at each of the faceoff dots, dips the blade of his stick in red paint, and turns in place with his arms out. Voila, the circles are done.

It’s nice that a big star like that doesn’t have an ego, and pitches in with rink maintenance.

  4. Best Chara moment was when he was traded to Ottawa….Worst was when he signed with Boston….Since then I refer to him as the heartbreak kid….

Kudos for him though…im glad he won a championship with Boston….He deserves it, he did not deserve being overlooked by Ottawa management when it was time to re-sign him…
