“This guy” is named Iiro Vehmanen, and he plays for TuTo of Finland’s second league. This was the season opener for his club, who successfully took down the also-uniquely-named KooKoo 3-2 in a shootout.

To get there, they needed this fairly generic goal (30 second mark), which spurred about the following reaction:

Even better than the obnoxious celebration (I love how his teammates are smiling, but in more of an “Oh geezus, really?” kind of way), might be the announcer yelling “Rocky Balboa” in the midst of his Finnish analysis.

No wonder Teemu did the glove toss ‘n’ shoot celly his rookie year in the NHL. He was fresh from Finland, and I guess this sort of thing is the norm over there?

  1. Was that wrong? Should he not have done that? Because I gotta say, if I knew that type of thing was frowned upon I would not have done that every every goal in my beer league.

  2. At 0:56 the announcer did also say that this must be the lenghtiest celebration in the history of Mestis (Finland’s second league). Great catch finding out this gem!
