Thoughts:

  • Looks like we have a toss up for the number one spot between Alex Ovechkin and Daniel Sedin. When it comes down to decision time though, I’m sure Ovechkin goes before Sedin 90 percent of the time.
  • Two players who should have great seasons are Gabriel Landeskog and Loui Eriksson. TSN projects 35 points out of Landeskog, while Eriksson is projected to have 42.
  • Rookie watch: Nail Yakupov looked good at the World Juniors, and there’s no reason to believe he will disappoint in Edmonton this year. Look for 15-20 goals and 40 points.
  • Late round sleeper pick is David Perron of the Blues. After missing 72 games with a concussion in the 2010-11 season, Perron returned in 2011 and scored 21 goals in 57 games. He’s ranked as the 27th best left winger, but is projected to have 28 points. Chris Kunitz for example has a higher rank with a 29 point projection.
