Thoughts:

  • Corey Perry and James Neal are the top two picks for right wingers, with Seguin, Sharp, Kessel  and Gabroik a toss up for the three spot. Last week, Justin Bourne predicted that Seguin would challenge Stamkos for the Rocket Richard Trophy.
  • Don’t let the early groin injury to the Flames’ Jarome Iginla stop you from drafting him in the third round. Iginla is in a contract year, and has been projected by TSN to score 19 goals and 39 points this shortened season.
  • Sleeper alert: this one is easy folks! Vladimir Tarasenko of the Blues is your early pick for the Anze Kopitar award (that’s the award I won for drafting Kopitar in the eighth round in 2009 when he was projected to go in the late rounds.

Take a look at what Tarasenko brings to the table.

  • Don’t forget Jaromir Jagr is on the Stars and not the Flyers. His projection of 33 points may be a little high for the 40-year old winger.
  • If your just starting a keeper league, Jordan Eberle and Jeff Skinner are great picks to build around. In standard leagues, I would draft both of these guys over Patrick Kane as well.

  1. Isn’t Seguin a center??

  2. I think David Clarkson definitely needs to be on the list- He killed it last year.
Also Nathan Horton is a good sleeper too now that he`s back to 100%

  3. I have 3 of top 4 RW, 3 of top 5 D, a top 3 goalie, a Top 3 LW but my highest rated C is Roy and Krejci.

  4. OMG. Leave Kessel out already. Good trade my Bruins.

    • Oh I love coming back to these and seeing how fools make comments – Love how Seguin is average and Kessel is in the Top 10 in scoring at the end of the season, and at times carried his team on his back through scoring, passing and even shockingly back-checking, while Seguin has disappeared in many games…. That may change for next year, of course, but Sam, right now, you look like a FOOL hahahaaha and the it was a Great trade for Toronto and still a great trade for Boston still.
