Toronto Maple Leafs v New York Islanders

Mike Komisarek earns $4.5 million a year for both this season and next, and the Toronto Maple Leafs just won’t use him. They’ll use Mark Fraser, and Korbinian Holzer, and John-Michael Liles and any number of any other defenseman, but they just won’t use the guy. Today they put him on waivers.

Komisarek also has a no-movement, but here’s Darren Dreger of TSN with some news:

Komisarek hasn’t been having a whole ton of fun here in Toronto, only finding himself in uniform for four games this season. Mike’s a good guy, and a legitimate NHL defenseman. Only question is if anyone is willing to take on that salary. I’m guessing his teammate’s last tweet was in some way a reference to him:

Or possibly their losing streak, what do I know?

Anyway, everyone would benefit from him getting picked up by another team. The Leafs would gain cap space, and he could himself back on the ice.

  1. Also Morgan Rielly reporting to the Marlies, could be an interesting D pairing to follow over the next couple weeks.

  2. This is the leafs problem they got great players but don’t use them .,

  3. Ill never forget the Habs fan who had “Homosarek” on the back of his jersey. Priceless…stupid…but priceless

  4. And in the interest of picking up extra salary….here come the Islanders!

    • LOL, ya he will get a 12 year 54 million dollar contract to play in Long Island. Well he would anyway if Mike Milbury was still the GM.

  5. Well, he’ll be PAID 3.5 million, his cap hit is 4.5. That makes it a little more attractive for teams with cap room (though it’s still an overpay).

  6. My guess will be that he clears and goes down but will get claimed on re-entry when leafs are stuck paying half his salary

  7. Make way, here comes Calgary.

  8. An okay defence at half the cost. Vancouver bound and still dangling a goalie for some offence.

  9. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
