  1. “Assume” A-Team? Next thing you know he’s going to be saying that he doesn’t get the inevtiable “Duke and Hawk to my Shipwreck” joke.

  2. Also, you guys REALLY need to stop pretending the East is in any way decent. I’d give the Sharks a good chance against anyone short of the top three in the East, and I think everyone except the Bruins and Pens would get destroyed by any Western team.

    • This is actually the best argument I can think of in favour of the West. For the record, I don’t disagree at all. When you tier out all the teams in each conference I think it looks a lot more even than it actually is. That being said, 1-7 in the West (though I’m still not sold on Minny or Detroit) dummy everyone in the East that’s not Pittsburgh, Boston, and maybe Montreal.

  3. technically Bobrovsky also got a shutout last night too, so that would be 5 shutouts.

  4. I think the West is definitely better defensively than the East. Top scorers are mostly Eastern players, top goalies are usually Western players. Ribeiro’s PPG jumped this year after moving from the West to the East. Pavel Datsyuk has never had a 100 point season, which is absolutely ridiculous considering how good he is. Some of that is that he’s defensively responsible, but if he were in the East I’m positive he’d be putting up even better numbers. Same thing with Toews.

    • Kopitar probably belongs in that conversation as well. He’s a reliable point-a-game guy out west, but in the east he’d likely be getting 100 / season.

I think that’s what’s going to stunt the Oilers’ growth – you just can’t play their brand of hockey in the West. If they were in the East, they’d be able to do it more easily.
