Roy, who has four goals and 18 assists in 30 games for Dallas this year, will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. In his career, toy has recorded 165 goals in 579 games, topping the 30 goal mark on one occasion back in the 2007-08 season.
The Stars have struggled this year, currently sitting in fourth place in the Pacific Division with 35 points. Most expected the team to start dismantling the roster after last night’s 4-0 loss to the Ducks. Earlier today, it was reported the Stars had informed forward Jaromir Jagr that he will be traded before Wednesday’s trade deadline.
Roy will be joining a Canucks squad that sits fourth in the Western Conference standings with 44 points. After playing on a line most recently centering Loui Eriksson and Ray Whitney, Roy may now find himself on the Vancouver second line with Jannik Hansen and Chris Higgins, a position held currently by Alexandre Burrows.
