One of the OT extravaganza games from a couple nights ago, the Sharks edged the Blues in a game that was slow to start but got better each period. Here’s hoping they picked up where they left off. Read the rest of this entry »

Game Two: Ottawa Senators at New York Rangers

After a one-sided opener, the Senators will look to even up the series against the top seed in the Eastern Conference before heading back to their home building for the next two games. Read the rest of this entry »
Game Two: Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins
Posted by Chris Lund under Game Day Preview, Playoffs! on Apr 14, 2012
The first game of this series was a grind it out affair that required Chris Kelly firing a laser beam into an impossible location to beat Braden Holtby and the Caps. This game is just as likely to be another tightly checked 1-0 game as it is a free wheeling one. Read the rest of this entry »
Game One: Chicago Blackhawks at Phoenix Coyotes
Posted by Chris Lund under Game Day Preview, Playoffs! on Apr 12, 2012
This has the potential to be a series that catapults a team into Cup contention. The Blackhawks are two years removed from their championship and still possess a lot of Cup caliber pieces. Game One: San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues

This may be one of the quieter series hype-wise that I have big expectations for. Many people had this as the year the San Jose Sharks finally break through and win that elusive Cup, yet here we are and they’re a seven seed taking on the number two St. Louis Blues. I expect a back and forth tight checking series with plenty of excitement from both ends of the rink. Home ice will be a huge factor as these two squads boast two of the most raucous rinks in hockey. Game One: Ottawa Senators at New York Rangers

A lot of folks have this pegged as the “least interesting” series of round one and I’d be hard pressed to argue that. The Rangers steam rolled their way through four-fifths of the regular season and fell a hair short of capturing the Presidents’ Trophy. The Sens were in a lot of ways the surprise team of the regular season as they clawed their way into the playoffs despite being a consensus lottery team. Game one should be a good indicator of what there is to look forward to and ideally it will be something good. Read the rest of this entry »
