Forward Linus Omark, who has failed to remain on the Oilers roster the last few seasons, scored an amazing goal while playing for his Switzerland club, EV Zug. Omark, who signed a one-year deal with the team back on August 29th, 2012, just flicked the puck past the goalie to cap a four point night.

The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs will renew their Original Six rivalry tonight in the season opener.

The Maple Leafs are expected to have Ben Scrivens between the pipes against the Canadiens Carey Price, who will wear this new mask for the 2013 season.

New Jersey forward Ilya Kovalchuk is expected to return to Devils camp on Monday, but before making his return to the NHL, the two-time 50-goal scorer made the crowd go wild by taking part in some figure skating during the KHL All-Star Skills competition.

In what can only be described as vicious and unnecessary, Former NHLer Donald Brashear will surely be in hot water after delivering this brutal looking cheap shot to the head of Gaby Roch in LNAH action (a minor league in Quebec).

Unfortunately, it looks very similar to the cheap shot Todd Bertuzzi put on Steve Moore years back. Here’s hoping Gaby Roch will be OK.

HockeyWebCaster is a personal favourite YouTube channel of mine, making available some of the best quotes, videos and general hockey-related clips that most hockey fans don’t want to miss. Earlier today, they put out the above video, a nicely edited package of the best Brian Burke soundbites during his tenure with the Leafs. Many you know, some may be new, but they’re all worth catching one last time.

In the above Face Punch Fight, you’ll note that two very tough, strong men tried to punch each other’s faces many, many times. Those men, specifically, would be Joel Rechlicz of Portland and Frazer McLaren of the Worcester Sharks. I have no idea what it was about, but I think it’s safe to assume something meaningful. I believe fight connoisseurs would file this “tilly” under “beauties,” eh?
