Hey look, the podcast is back!

Today we did an NHL Draft edition. Rob Pizzo and Derek Snider are in Pittsburgh to take it all in, and brought us back some nice quotes for us to include on the show. Topics:

* We have audio of interviews Rob did with Nail Yakupov, Malcolm Subban, and Morgan Rielly

* Who would you hug first if you just got drafted?

* The little brother “go in net” situation (Subban)

* Would you throw a random, un-curved team hat on your gelled hair?

* The NHL Awards, specifically Lundqvist’s F-bomb

* And more.

Sorry about the spoiler of a headline – maybe you had already heard?

Specifically, we talked about:

* THE KINGS WINNING THE CUP

* Jonathan Quick deserving the Conn Smythe

* Steve Bernier’s hit on Rob Scuderi

* Jarret Stoll’s sort-of hit on Stephen Gionta

* The Cup celebration

* Brodeur returning to the Devils

* Parise…who knows

* Whose beerability went up post Cup win

* And much, much more.

This sucks, but we’re going to scale back the podcast during summer to 1-2 shows a week. We’ll always do at least one though, and I’ll let you know soon what day/time they’ll be out (follow me on Twitter to be sure not to miss it). In the meantime….the final show of the 2011-2012 NHL season. Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings!

Yay, hockey isn’t over! Today Pizzo and I caught up on:

* The Devils winning Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final

* Peter DeBoer’s comments about the porn star behind the Kings bench

* Marty Brodeur’s case for the Conn Smythe

* Sidney Crosby’s possible contract extension

* And much, much more.

Seriously, that heading ain’t no lie – “beerability” made up half the show today. It was a ton of fun.

But, we also talked about actual hockey. For example:

* NHL ratings aren’t great, going to get worse on Saturday due to Heat/Celtics

* The Toronto Marlies (AHL) lost in OT on a crazy bounce while a player was offside

* Who’s going to win Game 5 (I’ve got a two-game “nailed it” streak going, which will likely end with picking Dwight King to score the GWG in OT)

* Adam Deadmarsh has to stop coaching due to post-concussion syndrome

* Paul Maurice is going to coach in Russia

* Game day routines/preparation

* Beerability. We talked about the Sutters, drinking games, kegstands and the concept of “Beerapacity” (tolerance, basically)

I usually avoid vertical photos, but, y'know, Adam Henrique shaved in a mustache.

Today’s podcast is worth a listen solely for the “Rob Pizzo is an idiot” montage that John Noon put together, but there’s also some good hockey talk. Rob, of course, is not an idiot, but Noon and I both made a correct prediction on the same day, therefore…Pizzo’s an idiot.

We discussed:

* Adam Henrique’s GWG – nice pick up w/ skate, Quick should probably stop that

* Brodeur’s poke-check-flop on Trevor Lewis

* Simon Gagne looked good

* What happens to the cases of champagne that were in the building?

* Quick’s shutout streak

* Devils have never been swept

* Jaromir Jagr’s looking at a new contract

* And much more.

Today’s podcast covered a myriad of topics we hadn’t planned on discussing, which always makes for good radio.

We hit on:

* Jonathan Quick making statistical history

* Adam Henrique shaved his awesome goatee

* The Devils can win this series IF…(no serious answers provided)

* The Kings announcers will record their call of the game

* Kopitar’s success from a small town in Slovenia

* Three pieces of Russian news – Radulov, Semin and Krutov

* And much more.

The Kings jumped out to a 3-0 series lead for the fourth time in playoffs this season, and it looks like this year’s Cup winner is all but official.

Today we talked about:

* The Kings domination, of course

* The first three goals in detail

* The Devils lack of stones

* Struggling top players on New Jersey

* 5-on-3 scoring frequency

* Wayne Gretzky’s superstitions

* John Tortorella feeling back for his treatment of the media

* And much more
