Toronto Raptors v Indiana Pacers

In a special edition of RaptorBlog Radio, Drew and I are joined by Dwane Casey as we reflect back on the season that was.

In his second appearance on the show, coach Casey talks about the defensive ceiling of the Raptors’ athletic core, how the offence might change heading into next season, how Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan can become more efficient offensive players, the value of Amir Johnson, the ongoing Andrea Bargnani situation and what’s changed since the last time he joined us on the eve of the season.

  1. Well done, boys. Much better questions than what you observe in the MSM.

  2. good interview. I only wish you asked about the roll Andrea could play on this team. Like if Casey sees Andrea coming off the bench and being a corner three guy or speciality 3 point shooter. But great job guys.

  3. Oh, c’mon Casey is sometimes talking rubbish. He wants to put the 4-19 on Jonas not being able to defend apparently (yes yes “not only on JV”), but out of those first games Jonas used to play less than 15 minutes and Casey used to rely so much on Gray. And especially since so many of those games were lost in the last minutes by a couple points and Jonas was never playing 4th quarters in the first half of the season. His rotations were questionable quite often, but his reasoning is even more frightening.

  4. I liked his answers, he knows what he screwed up on this year. Glad he realizes that some of the players will never be amazing at defense in a 1 vs 1 situation. But they can play some good team defense and a training camp focusing on that will help. tIf he can focus on defense like he says then the team will be maybe a 4 or 5 seed in the playoffs next season. Just need to give up 5 points less a game to make that happen.

  5. Not afraid to ask tough questions. I appreciate that. No sugar coating. Great job guys
