Amid the flurry of activity that went down on the day the NBA’s moratorium lifted was Landry Fields officially signing his offer sheet with the Raptors on Wednesday. The Knicks now have until Saturday to match the offer.

Between how much the offer sheet is actually worth and whether or not the Knicks will match, there are still a lot of questions surrounding this deal.

The lifting of the NBA’s moratorium as of midnight today means that all signings, re-signings and trades that went down before July 11 can finally become official, which means a guy like Kyle Lowry should be an official Raptor soon enough (if he isn’t already by the time you read this) and the Knicks will now have three days to match the three-year offer sheet to Landry Fields.

One of the new developments that emerged almost immediately after midnight is that Jerryd Bayless has agreed to a new contract with the Grizzlies.

Nearly a week removed from the madness that was the Steve Nash sweepstakes, ESPN’s Marc Stein wrote a fascinating piece detailing the scenes as Nash embarked on his big decision. It’s certainly worth a read, and based on how directly involved the Raptors were during the whole saga, the story, “How Steve Nash Became A Laker,” has a ton of Raptors-related tid-bits.

After a crazy few days for the Raptors last week, the only news to come out of the weekend was that the team has reportedly come to terms on a new contract with Aaron Gray. Woj later tweeted that it would be a two-year deal, though a couple of days later, financial details still haven’t been leaked. Hopefully we’ll know more by the time everything becomes official on Wednesday.

While the re-signing of Gray will likely be seen as one of the more minor moves in what should go down as a busy summer for Bryan Colangelo, if you’ve been reading RaptorBlog, you’ll know that I’m definitely in favour of it.

It’s been a busy week in Raptor Land, from Landry Fields’ offer-sheet, to Steve Nash spurning the Raptors and joining the Lakers (for obvious reasons), to the big acquisition of Kyle Lowry, and then the latest news, Jerryd Bayless becoming an unrestricted free agent after Toronto pulled their qualifying offer.
