Yes, This Guy: Raptors Acquire Rudy Gay In Risky Trade

Bryan Colangelo and the Raptors have finally acquired Rudy Gay after a pursuit that lasted roughly seven months, if not more. We’ve spent a ton of words on the proposed deal and rumours over the last couple of days. Now it’s time to dig in and analyze an actual deal.

First, the details. The Raptors acquire Rudy Gay and Hamed Haddadi, the Grizzlies acquire Ed Davis, Tayshaun Prince, Austin Daye and a second round draft pick (from Toronto) plus cash considerations, and the Pistons acquire Jose Calderon.

The Rudy Gay trade is now official, so if you want one last look at Ed Davis in a Raptor uniform, there you go….

Probable starting lineups

Toronto: Jose Calderon, Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Landry Fields, Ed Davis Amir Johnson, Aaron Gray

Atlanta: Jeff Teague, Devin Harris, Kyle Korver, Josh Smith, Al Horford

Injury report

Toronto: Andrea Bargnani and Jonas Valanciunas are out, Kyle Lowry is expected to play after missing 1 game with back spasms.

Atlanta: Zaza Pachulia is doubtful with an Achilles injury. Anthony Morrow will play.

Random Thoughts:

Trigger-happy GM Bryan Colangelo has pulled the trigger on another deal! The Raptors will land Rudy Gay, his contract of roughly $18M per season (in which the 2014-15 season is a player option) and reserve big man Hamed Haddadi. Toronto gives up Ed Davis and Jose Calderon in return.
