Frustrated Knicks fans make me happy

It’s official.

We are now in the first days A.B. – After Bargnani – as the trade between the Raptors and Knicks that will send Andrea to New York is complete.

To recap, the Knicks receive Andrea Bargnani. The Raptors receive Steve Novak, Marcus Camby, Quentin Richardson (via sign-and-trade), a first round draft pick in 2016 and second round picks in 2014 and 2017.

Pinch yourself all you want. This is real.

Raptors fans who have longed for the end of The Bargnani Era are surely enjoying themselves a fine Canada Day this year, thanks to Masai Ujiri and the New YoLOLrk Knicks taking the seven-foot Italian off of Toronto’s hands.

In the immediate adrenaline rush of last night’s reported deal, I threw some quick thoughts up that you can still indulge in here. But on the morning after THE Trade, with a half-night’s sleep to collect and organize some more thoughts over, I thought I’d post a more in-depth version of my thoughts in a format similar to my usual “Thoughts On the Game” posts.

Toronto Raptors v Golden State Warriors

UPDATE 2: After reports of the deal not getting NBA approval and the teams needing to restructure it in some way, Raptors fans began to worry, and rightfully so when you consider some of the potential Raps deals that have fallen through in recent years (Tyson Chandler and Matt Barnes come to mind). Luckily however, the deal was apparently completed after all, though it still can’t become official until the NBA’s moratorium on player movement ends on July 10.

UPDATE 1: The deal has reportedly been agreed to, and is now just awaiting league approval. In addition, Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Raptors are actually getting THREE picks in return, a first rounder in 2016 and two future second rounders.
