By this point, most Raptors fans have come to terms with the fact that this team is aiming to make the playoffs this season. We’re not all in agreement about whether it’s good for the franchise to grab a seventh or eighth seed and then get destroyed in the first round, but that is what the 2012-13 Raptors are realistically aspiring to accomplish.

The Toronto Raptors haven’t been invited to the post-season party since 2008, so it would be kind of nice to end that drought — assuming, of course, that it was a sign of greater things to come in future seasons. However, this off-season has shifted the balance of power in the Eastern Conference in a way that should leave little doubt that the Atlantic Division — you know, the division in which the Raptors reside — is the strongest division in the Conference. Matter of fact, it could very well be the deadliest division in the whole league in 2012-13.

It’s not as exciting as the announcement of the regular season schedule, and it’s not as interesting to discuss and debate as ESPN’s “Future Ranking” of the franchise, but in case you missed it, I thought I’d pass along the news that the Raptors’ pre-season schedule was released on Thursday.

Kyle Lowry blowing by Steve Nash is something we hope to see at the ACC on January 20

In one of the more anticipated days of the summer for basketball junkies, the NBA announced its’ 2012-2013 schedule on Thursday, and as usual, there are some games that obviously stand out from the rest.

While I doubt the Raptors are featured in many, if any, of those games for the casual NBA fan, we’re here to cater to Raptors fans. And with that, here are the games we think you should circle on the calendar:

Amid the flurry of activity that went down on the day the NBA’s moratorium lifted was Landry Fields officially signing his offer sheet with the Raptors on Wednesday. The Knicks now have until Saturday to match the offer.

Between how much the offer sheet is actually worth and whether or not the Knicks will match, there are still a lot of questions surrounding this deal.

Some Canadians dreamed of a scenario where Steve Nash would agree to join the Raptors on Canada Day. Now the fear is that he’ll agree to join the Knicks on the Fourth of July.
