On today’s show, Skeets and Tas are in shock and awe for several reasons after watching Wednesday’s games. How’d the Mavericks let Duncan and the Spurs two-step all over ‘em? Why doesn’t All-Star Gerald Wallace take any shots? And, hey, Richard Jefferson is alive! Neat! All that, plus tennis balls, eggs and figure skating dunks.

Hey guys, great show as usual…
just an FYI the Dwight dunk over Rashard has been a pre-game ritual all season and actually dates back to last season and the Jason Williams/Rashard Lewis dunk has also been ritual the whole season…
Here’s a video of the Magic’s “disrespectful” warm-up ritual http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/pages/video/?PID=IS0cI2hYUedTXeGk_csEky1FnbonIMSV
I see no problem with that warmup at all.
Yeah, a few tweeps let us know on Twitter this morning. I have no idea how we’ve never seen it before. Thanks, Ron.
Michelle Wei! Fucking random! Ya, Capm’ Jack Sparrow is a bit of a douche for wanting out of GS, basically right after an extension
Skeets. Your laugh at 15:36 is so……. Torpedo Vegas (Frisky Dingo).
Just to back up Ron here… He’s right, the Magic have been doing those pre-game dunks all season. Every time Rashard positions himself under the basket everyone knows what’s following. They didn’t do it to piss off the Bobcats.
J-Will get up there!
why no headlines?
and i think one of those orlando warm-ups is on youtube
I’m signed up at covers.com. How do I “join the group”? Am I missing a “join”-link on the group page?
the audio on TSN2 has been questionable all year for TNT broadcasts
Last night was very encouraging for me as a Spurs fan. RJ’s dominant first half isn’t the main reason; that definitely won’t continue, though I also think he’ll play better than he did in game 1 for the rest of the series. When TP went out and Manu and RJ starting playing together, Spurs figured out how to use him.
The biggest things to take away from that game, for me, are that Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are finally healthy. With Manu playing HOF-caliber ball over the last month or two, I think the Spurs big three have arrived, all at the same time, for basically the first time all season. I feel good about this team with those three healthy.
Parker looked great with that second unit. He’s perfect to come off the bench and control the offense with those guys. He and Manu both fit their roles very well, finally.
A couple other things. McDyess looked excellent to me. His D on Dirk was very good. I’m with Barkley; as a Spurs fan, I’ll let Dirk shoot long fade aways all day, especially when McDyess contests so well. It’s better than doubling when there are so many other guys who can get going. But 9 rebounds in 20 minutes was big. His rotations on help defense were great. And that hussle play where he grabbed a loose ball/rebound with three white jerseys around him, then threw it right on target to Duncan for the lay-in–I think the hussle, smarts, and composure that came together that play were there all game from McDyess.
The other thing is, though Hill didn’t have a great game, he was much better than in game 1, and he looked a lot healthier, especially when he pushed it in transition and drew those fould. If he gets back to 100%, the Spurs will be pretty loaded. It will be very tough for Dallas to win in SA.
Another thing is that so far, I don’t think Dallas’ big acquisitions have helped them all that much in this series. I’m not sure Josh Howard couldn’t have done what Caron Butler has done and overall, I don’t really see Butler as an improvement, at least in terms of how they match up with the Spurs. Haywood definitely doesn’t scare me anymore; Duncan’s owned him and Dampier . You’d expect Shawn Marion to cause some trouble for the Spurs, but hasn’t so far. Jefferson has had a much bigger impact on the series so far. So so far, it looks to me like Dallas hasn’t improved over last year as much as we thought. On the other hand, the Spurs are MUCH better than they were last year–Manu’s playing, TD has two healthy legs.
The series is 1-1 and there’s obviously a lot more basketball to come. But I almost think it’s time to worry about the Mavs.
Hey guy, greatness as always cept for that ugly SOB yall showed at the top. Skeets, I wasn’t meaning to leave you out in the cold. In part I was calling myself out for my call in after the Nets game where I was ready to put the Spurs in a box. Merely saying I liked Tas’ call the other day that teams can turn it around on a dime. Everyone knows you’ve been repping the Spurs for awhile. Keep up the great work gents.
Looks like we can’t make picks at Covers until the 26th, right?
Hey, I live in Winnipeg and have shaw cable as my service provider, and I also noticed that TSN2 doesnt sounds right. So, its not us, its TSN2!
@Sebi & @Travis – Yeah, you can’t join the group or make picks till the 26th, but thanks for signing up early.
I thought Richard Jefferson was a huge factor in that win, but not much said about him in this podcast. Whole lot of Dirk commentary though. I think Dampier is a big question mark for the Mavs. Tony Parker seems to have finally recovered from his hollywood honeymoon and none too soon for the Spurs. McDyess is looking like the guy they wanted to sign. This is looking like a series. I love the Spurs when they play the way they can, but if it goes 7 games, I think Dirk hits the winner or Duncan bricks the possible winner. All in all, a great matchup to go 7 games.
I wish Reggie Miller was in a well. I haven’t had any problems with the audio for the games, but I don’t have NBATV so I was only able to watch the TNT games.
GREAT PICTURE OF DUNCAN!!! getting his jiggy on
you’re right there is an echo at the start of games when i watch them as well on tsn2.. and i think it is tsn2… because they were broadcasting one game where it was going over it’s allotted time slot so i tuned from the score to tsn2 and the audio compared to the score was horrible!!!
Confirmed. The problem was on TSN’s end, Mr. Matt Devlin confirmed it over Twitter.
Speaking of announcing, how bush league is NBAtv’s using local announcers to handle playoff games? It was horrible watching Blazers/Suns Game 2 and having to hear Phoenix homers. It’ll be even worse if they use the Mikes for the Blazers home game tonight.
