Back in the day, Jason Kidd ran the best fast break in basketball and couldn’t shoot to save his life. Now, he’s realized that he can save his aging legs by hitting three-quarter court shots instead of sprinting up and down the hardwood all the time. It’s an effective tactic and a nice way to extend his career.

It was also the basis for a pretty funny moment during the game. On the Mavericks broadcast — of which there are no copies available on the Internet, amazingly — the commentators said “Unless Dallas gets a gift, the Clippers are going to take a lead in to halftime,” or something like that. Then, four seconds later, Jason Kidd had hit a 70-foot heave and the Mavericks were winning at half.

Typical Clippers.
