Our friends at Sole Collector alerted us to this little foot-related oddity, and it certainly begs a question — why did Dwyane Wade wear two different colors of shoes last night against the Celtics?

Play-by-play data tells us that the picture on the left is from the first half, since that’s the only time Paul Pierce drew a foul on Wade. And though ESPN doesn’t vigorously track double teapots like we do, I’d be willing to bet the picture on the right is from the second half since halftime would be the only chance Wade for to swap shoes. As you can see, that’s two different Veteran’s Day colorways of the Air Jordan 2010. Peculiar.

I’d guess that Wade’s switcharoo happened because he struggled in the first half, going 0-6 from the field and turning the ball over three times and NBA players are weird like that. Unfortunately for D-Wade, switching to mostly navy sneakers didn’t help much, as he went 2-6 and had three turnovers in the second half.

“Superstition” is one of my favorite songs ever, but it wasn’t the answer for the Heat last night.
