Let’s all just admit it right now — Boston is the perfect place for Shaquille O’Neal.
He’s old, which is perfect for the Celtics. He doesn’t have to play that much because the team has so many good post players. And, best of all, fans love him for doing things like singing the “Cheers” theme song while in one of Boston’s numerous “the real ‘Cheers’” bars. It’s an ideal fit.
I mean, where else could a 7-foot-1 monster of a man be applauded for completely and unashamedly botching the lyrics to the theme music from a cultural cornerstone because, as the cameraman notes, “nobody knows the words?” Only in Boston.
