Well, if that’s a punch then the answer is yes. But then we’d have to know for sure if that was a punch.

Hey, Dirk Nowitzki, was that a punch?

“Punch? No,” Nowitzki said. “It was nothing.”

Of course he’d say that’s not a punch. We need a second opinion.

Hey, Ramon Sessions, was that a punch?

“You saw it, looked like a punch to me,” Sessions told NBA.com. “I never had any history with Dirk, but it was a punch. I don’t know what it was about, but it was a punch.”

As expected, Ramon Sessions is staunchly pro-punch. This solves nothing.

Looks like we’ll just have to wait for the league’s reaction to determine whether or not Dirk Nowitzki threw the sissiest punch in NBA history. If he’s suspended for a game — as called for by the rules when an attempted punch is thrown — then we can talk. Until that happens, let’s just all agree that Dirk Nowitzki’s awkward haymaker accuracy isn’t quite on par with his shooting accuracy.

  1. I’d call it a forearm shiver

  2. He looked like Napoleon Dynamite for a second there.
