On one hand, it’s kinda great that Mengke Bateer, Jimmy King and Garth Joseph all made it in to an NBA commercial in the year 2011. That’s nice, and quite unexpected. Good for those guys.

On the other hand, this is a real commercial? It’s not some kind of parody from a weird Canada-only version of “Saturday Night Live” that’s being hosted by Tom Green? Nope, it’s really real, at least according to Melas, who filmed this clip with his own camera. (Hide your cords, bro.)

I think my good friend Barry Kleinfeld sums it up best when he says, “Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?” I don’t know, Barry. I just don’t know.

  1. Giggling so much at Barry Kleinfeld.

  2. NBA TV Canada has been running this ad for a while now. It’s not showing up on regular NBA TV just in Canada, which is why any of those clowns made it into an NBA commercial. So yes it’s still hilarious, but not that crazy.

  3. LOREN WOODSSSSS!!!! We should be congratulating whoever made this for the unintentional comedy provided.

  4. I can’t state enough how much I love that the brief clip of the next commercial was just a beaver walking down a road. Canada, sometimes you outdo yourself.

  5. The nerve to edit Chauncey Billups in there, when he only played 29 games for the Raptors and averaged 11ppg (thanks Basketball Reference).

  6. Agreed with adam
