The NBA season is a grueling slog that lasts from October to April and is filled with endless travel, numerous too-short beds and 82 games of basketball peppered with practices, shootarounds and various media obligations. As far as jobs go, it’s a great one, but it’s still work. That’s why, when a team has an off day, they really take advantage.
After five games in seven days — including four straight wins to bring them within a game-and-a-half of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference — the Houston Rockets don’t play again until Wednesday. That means an off day today. And that means it’s time for their players to live it up in their time off, just like Kyle Lowry plans to do. From the AP:
“I can’t wait,” Lowry said. “I might sleep til 9:30 a.m. Every game has been tough for us—playing, practicing, playing, practicing. It gets to you after a little while, but it’s been a good stretch for us.”
9:30 a.m.? Don’t go CRAZY, Kyle Lowry. I know you’ve got the day off, but this is insanity. 9:30 a.m., I mean, geez — you don’t want to waste the whole day lounging around in bed. Wake up, man.
