One of the unwritten rules of NBA basketball is that when you start a game by making five or more consecutive three-pointers, you are allowed to do the Michael Jordan shrug, especially if your last make is from 30 feet away. It doesn’t matter if it happens in a Finals game or in an April game against the Toronto Raptors.

If the conditions are right, shrug it up, man. You’ve earned it. Shrug like you’ve never shrugged before. Shrug like no one’s watching. Carpe shrugem (“Seize the shrug”). Shrug the shrug you want to see in the world.

Kudos, Carmelo Anthony, both for your shooting prowess and your well-timed shrug. We tip our caps to you and your jovial sense of humor. Huzzah.

  1. its raining three’s baby! Jimmer Mania!

  2. that is so backwards. Melo has been shooting like that since he won a NCAA championship virtually by himself. I can’t believe he just got compared to a gifted college shooter with virtually no future in the NBA.

America: get over your raging Jimmer.

  3. Nobody looks happier to be playing basketball when his shots are falling than Carmelo!
