Remember the time JaVale McGee tweeted a picture of himself riding a Segway through a McDonald’s drive-thru? That was when we really knew everything that he was capable of, which turned out to mostly be hilarious feats of folly.

But now, the good times are over. In the saddest news in the history of gyroscopic electric travel, JaVale McGee has sold his Segway. From the Washington Post:

If you were walking around Chinatown the last few weeks of the regular season, you may have seen a 6-foot-9, 275-pound man cruising along on a Segway. There was no need for alarm. It was simply Wizards rookie Kevin Seraphin making the rounds, abandoning his gas guzzler and taking a greener, two-wheeled approach to transportation.

As the season came to a close, Seraphin was rarely seen leaving Verizon Center without the ride he purchased from teammate JaVale McGee. McGee sold it after he moved from the District to a more spacious place out in Virginia. McGee said he cut “about $1,000” off the price he paid for Seraphin.

Dag — I guess this is growing up. So sad.

We’ll miss you, JaVale McGee on a Segway, but it is nice that we might get to see you again, someday, since it’s still in the family. It won’t be the same, but at least we’ll have our memories. You were a great joke.

Goodbye, for now.
