On today’s NBA Playoff Fix, Skeets and Tas weigh in on Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Topics include: Scott Brooks’ gutsy fourth-quarter decision, the similarities between Game 1 and 2, Dirk’s usage rating, ESPN’s pathetic “Russell Westbrook is furious” narrative, JET’s long night, Big Game James, and more. All that, plus a key Rounders softball update, and Tas’ hazardous auto multi-tasking. See you, Tuesday.

  1. Quick brain fart on my behalf. I didn’t mean that Thunder’s bench went on runs of +5, +10, +18, etc. when they checked in. I meant that that’s what the OKC reserves +/- looked like. Sorry for the confusion.

  2. Yeah, yeah, yeah…whatever.

More importantly, whose’s the skin diving chick?

  3. LeBron James “with no regard for human life.” For me that dunk has to be ranked somewhere.

  4. Tas needs to show us his batting stance! Also both of you need to show us your shots for basketball. I’d love to see how you guys shoot the basketball. On another note if the refs do completely change, which I think they will in at least one game, the Mavs will suffer more because Dirk won’t be getting to the line as much and his free throws are really free points every time. I know the thunder rely on free throws too but if the Mavs best player who can make almost every free throw isn’t getting to the line then thats a chunk of the Mavs points gone plus Dirk going to the free throw line helps him out a lot with shooting. Gets him into a rhythm.

  5. where did tas get that shirt. i need it

  6. That Jessica Alba really is a distraction.
I mean a was starring for nearly 3 minutes at that ass.I really wanted to watch the show but I couldn`t. That girl is something else.

Great show and have during your long weekend.

    greets from Germany

  7. I don’t know where its ranked, but the Kobe to Shaq alley-oop in game 7 of the WCF against Portland has to be up there. Shaq’s hand at its highest point is level with the top of the square on the backboard. But more than that, it iced a game where the Lakers had a historic come-back in the fourth. That one dunk arguably launched their dynasty.

  8. Too much being made of this Westbrook/Brooks story on both sides. Yeah, of course we have no way of knowing what’s in Westbrook’s head or what the locker room dynamic is like. That was all stupid speculation.

But, on the other side, I don’t think Brooks did anything great. I don’t think it was particularly “courageous”, as I’ve heard people say. I also don’t think sticking with those guys after that last timeout is the reason that they won.

The bench guys were great. They had a great stretch. But, then the Mavs ripped off 6 straight. It had the feel to me like the Mavs could have stolen the game. I think at that point it would have been smarter to have Westbrook out there.

I don’t think leaving Westbrook on the bench is the reason that they held Dallas off. BUT, that could have been the reason they lost if they had.

  9. Jessica Alba ftw. You and your damn Pepperidge Farm cottage. Tas, I seriously thought the “long weekend” bit was a song. Rain delays ftw. If I hear must-win again, Imma go crazy. Harden’s howl at the moon ftw. On a more serious note:
    “Macho Man” Randy Savage RIP.

  10. I don’t know, Skeets: Collison plays minutes without Dirk on the floor is because he’s independently helping his team. He’s proving more than useful against anybody. There’s merit in expending his efforts trying to build or maintain leads while Dirk’s on the bench. If he was absolutely nullifying Nowitzki you’d have an irrefutable argument.

Last night I realised how much this series comes down to the performances of Jason Terry. That’s a giant problem for Dallas.

  11. I still think Dallas wins this series. Offense is so strong, but Tas is right, Kidd needs to be ready to score.

Not to mention, Brooks isn’t going to keep Westbrick off the court in the 4th again. Is he? Probably not. That means fewer looks for Durant, which is great for the Mavs.

I love Westbrook’s talent. I hate his PG IQ.

  12. My top 5 playoff dunks:

    1. Shawn Kemp on Alton Lister (1992 – Round 1 – Game 4)
    2. Scottie Pippen on Patrick Ewing (1994 – East Semis – Game 6)
    3. Michael Jordan on Patrick Ewing (1991 – Round 1 – Game 3)
    4. Kevin Johnson on Hakeem Olajuwan (1994 – West Semis – Game 4)
    5. Baron Davis on Andre Kirilenko (2007 – West Semis – Game 3)
