Wha' Happened?: Dallas did it

Dallas Mavericks 100, Oklahoma City Thunder 96
It was nice of the Thunder to go out like the Thunder, turning a 4-point lead with two minutes remaining in to a 4-point loss punctuated by Kevin Durant missing two 28-footers with a hand in his face. That’s really the perfect ending. I’d say it’s just how Scott Brooks drew it up, but I’m not sure what the real-life equivalent to another pointless isolation is.

  1. I’m sure at some point Cube-Dawg has said, “When we get back to the NBA Finals, I’m going to poop my pants!” It looks like that’s exactly what happened.

  2. It was nice of a few “commentators” to go ahead and still blame Westbrook for everything. They just could barely find any fault with Durant even with some of his bad shot selection…i.e. 3-point choices.

  3. I’d like to know what the fuck is wrong with NBA coaches and players these playoffs. It seems that every important late-game shot is a contested fadeaway jumper in isolation. For the love of God, they are professional basketball players, I’m pretty sure they would have learned that this is not the best option, to say the least.

  4. @Barachat – THANK YOU!!!!

When I talk to my son and nephew, I call this the “YMCA game winner”. Go to a YMCA, it does not work there, but people think it’s going to work in the NBA/college.

Favs for doing this are D.Wade, K.Durant, J.Nelson…when time is running out and they
are at the top of the key with the ball, I just stand up and go “They lost.” or “It’s Overtime.” and go grab some popcorn b/c it’s a guaranteed miss.
