This is one of my favorite NBA traditions — the NBA championship caricature t-shirt. I’ve liked these since I was a not-so-wee lad, and I like them today. I assume I’m not alone.

The caricatures on the Mavericks version are predictably hilarious. Corey Brewer is choice, since he already looks pretty cartoonish, with that giant smile and humongous eyes. Peja Stojakovic is also funny, since his cartoon smile looks particularly devilish. Dirk looks like 1985 Biff Tannen for some reason, and J.J. Barea is drawn full-size. All in all, adidas rocked the party on this year’s caricature shirt.

You can get the shirt from the NBA Store for $29.99. Totally worth it if you’re a Mavericks fan, just love cartoon t-shirts or were trying to figure out what to get your dad for Father’s Day. He’d love a shirt with his face on it.

  1. As a longtime Mavs fan, after the championship I’d been waiting around blogs such as this for a suitably awesome shirt to pop up. You did not disappoint.

  2. I still have my caricature shirts from the Pistons 89 and 90 championship teams. Love this tradition.

  3. I’m dumb enough that I misread the logo. “What the heck is a DRUPS?”

  4. great shirts from back in the day. glad to see them make a comeback

  5. Sweet!! These totally remind me of growing up. I never had one, but I always wanted the ’86 Celtic version my cousin had. I don’t even like the Mavs, but I may have to buy one of these.

  6. The worst thing about a potential lockout will be the lack of Brian Cardinal zings, so please keep them coming, Trey.

  7. The NBA Store doesn’t ship this item to Canada. C’mon TBJ. As a fellow Torontonian, can we somehow get some TBJ Canada love and get this item up here?
