NBA players have been spending their lockout in a bunch of different ways. Kevin Love is playing volleyball. Kevin Durant is hooping anywhere and everywhere. Chris Bosh is getting tattoos. Andrew Bynum is learning how to play his girlfriend songs on the piano. Different strokes for different people.
Knicks draft pick Josh Harrellson — he’s saving lives. No big deal. From WKYT:
It was in the parking lot of Tin Roof where Josh Harrellson says he saw a man who appeared to be drunk getting into a truck. He says he never expected what happened next.
Josh says he and some friends were standing by his truck in the parking lot of Tin Roof when the man got into another truck, that’s when things got out of control.
“All of a sudden he was coming right at us,” he said.
Harrellson says he and his friends immediately jumped into action.
“I just pushed everybody out of the way, and then bam – right into my truck,” said Harrellson.
He says the man rammed another car, then hit his truck a second time. That’s when, Harrellson says, they knew they had to do something.
“About four or five of us guys jumped on the truck and reached in there and turned the keys off and just tried to make sure he wasn’t going anywhere,” he said.
He says it was a harrowing experience, but when he discovered there were young children in the backseat, he knew it was worth it.
Oh yeah, just stopping drunk drivers and saving children’s lives. Just another day in the life for a guy nicknamed “Jorts.” Pretty awesome way to spend your summer.
Even better, it’s nice to finally see a Knick play defense. Hiyo!
