The NBA season isn’t starting any time soon, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about what our favorite players would be wearing if they were playing. It’s called being optimistic. With that in mind, have a looksy at these bad riders: the adidas adiZero Rose 2.0 “Windy City.” They’re fantastic.
As you’ve probably guessed, these are Derrick Rose’s newest signature shoe, his third with the three stripes. They’re Bulls colors, obviously, but they also have a little sky blue thrown in, which I’m guessing is a nod to the Chicago flag. I’ve always been a fan of red and light blue together — word to the old St. Louis Cardinals jerseys — so I’m a big fan.
The best part, however, is the Chicago-themed details throughout the shoe. The heels shout out The L (or El, whatever), while the insoles have the city transit map. “All flights canceled” runs down the tongue, probably because O’Hare Airport is one of the world’s worst airports in terms of canceled and delayed flights and “Some flights delayed or canceled” isn’t particularly snappy. They’re little touches, but they’ll mean a lot to people who are familiar with the city.
Plus, if these are anything like last year’s adiZero Rose 1.0 sneakers, they’ll be great shoes. Rose’s previous signature model was light, responsive and surprisingly supportive. This new version shares a lot of the same technology, albeit updated, so I’d be willing to guess that these will be a nice pair of shoes to hoop in as well.
Unfortunately, these might be a China-only colorway, which would be a huge bummer. Really, really hope these see a stateside release because I wouldn’t mind throwing some Chicago on my feet.
