If you’ve been following the Jones this year, you know we’re big fans of the 76ers’ biggest fan, a man Skeets christened “Old Man Knees.” He’s that guy sitting courtside at Sixers games with the white hair, white goatee and crazy gesticulations. Well, “sitting” is a bit of an exaggeration. Usually he’s on his knees, pleading with the Sixers to do good, hence the nickname.

Now, finally, we get to learn about Old Man Knees. He’s just some dude named Alan who made a fortune in the student housing business, which I always knew was a racket. I don’t know why we’re just now noticing him, but I’m glad it’s happening. The more fans like Old Man Knees we can get, the better.

  1. Next up — an expose on Weirdo McNeckbeard behind Old Man Knees. Apparently that block of season tickets is only available to over-gesticulators and proponents of strange facial hair.

  2. He’s Matty’s borther

  3. I ment to say brother

  4. Every team has one of these dudes, and it’s great. For the Wizards, it’s the hype guy. He sits behind the Wiz’ bench, wears a Santana Moss jersey and can raise the roof like a mother fucker. Seriously, he goes from nipple high to full extension. I’m really surprised he hasn’t blown out his shoulder.

  5. there is also this guy sitting courtside at mavs games, who does this weird wave-pink-stuff-in-the-air-thing whenever the mavs score a basket..
watching on television he is sitting in the low left corner of the screen, his back facing the camera

  6. No question of why he stands on his knees. C’mon, reporter lady.

  7. How about the turban man at every Raptor game?
