Time magazine — a venerable institution who once placed this very internet web log among the finest in all the world — just released it’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. On that list is a single NBA personality: Jeremy Lin, who played all of 35 games this season and will miss the rest of the regular season and at least the first round of the playoffs.

  1. I think Jay-Z made the real list. I didn’t check but he’s the type of a guy who would make that type of a list.

  2. lol eddie curry at 100

  3. More influential than “Chaz”? No way!

    • I don’t think Lin can influence the Lakers owner that well. If Chaz can make decisions there, he can do anything!

  4. Why is dirk not higher!? Last year he became a household name!

  5. Pretty interesting to see Trey’s stream of though with how the list is ordered.

  6. Two Gordon Haywards. Trey must have a crush.

  7. As soon as I saw Luke Ridnour, I knew the list was going to get funky.

I’m a little surprised I didn’t see a Richie Frahm name drop on this mug…

  8. Somewhere B.J. Mullens is sitting around crying that he didnt make either list.

  9. Chelsea Handler made the real list, so it basically shouldn’t count.

  10. Woah woah woah woah WOAH Kwame Brown has more influence in the tip of his finger than Jeremy Lin has in his whole body

    • Kwame Brown who?? Chaz who??I don’t think the rest of the world even know who they are. However, Jeremy Lin is famous all over the whole, in Asia, Europe and even in Scandinavia like Finland. So who is more influential? I rest my case.

  11. Brad Miller has his own TV show. C’mon, Time magazine.

  12. I have an idea that would measure how much a player “showed up” in big games. I would love to see a graph of points per game (y-axis) vs. win percentage of opposing team (x-axis), to see if players play harder when the team they face is better. Any idea if such a graph exists?

  13. this is just plain great. funny and perfect point.
what would the criteria be as to how they come up with lin over as for an example that list of players?

  14. http://beginningandend.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Lin-Ipad-fans.jpg

There’s your answer as to why Lin makes the list for this one year.

  15. No Shaq? You put Charles and no Shaq.

  16. I was going to comment something about Ray Felton’s dietician making the list, but then I saw his baker on here. Well done.

  17. key word is influential. hes the one of only a few asians in the NBA, and hes pretty good too.. not to mention went to harvard.. take those into consideration along with the fact that half the world is asian and asians are kinda the underdog when it comes to basketball.. and ya.. hes pretty influential..

  18. I died a little when I read Chelsea Handlers name on that list

  19. More influential than TWO Gordon Haywards?! I don’t know about that.

  20. 99/100 of those players are unknown to non-nba fans

  21. LoL. It takes real balls to namedrop an organization that has given you an ward, then turn around and question the professional integrity of.

  22. Can we have Bob Ducca read that entire list? Thanks!

  23. Just missed the cut: Greg Ostertag, Olden Polynice, Dejuan Wagner, Nickoloz Tskitishvili, Aaron Mckie, Air Bud and Mike Bibby

  24. Why is Joe Johnson on your list? I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have personality.
