On today’s playoff edition of “The Fix,” Skeets and Tas discuss the Heat-Pacers physicality fallout. Does Udonis Haslem deserve a one-game suspension? Was Tyler Hansbrough making a play on the ball when he cut Wade? And how stupid is Dexter Pittman? All that, plus Larry Bird’s “S-O-F-T” comments, why the Pacers struggled to get the ball inside, “Shoeless in Miami,” Granger’s ankle injury, Cheryl Miller, and much more.

  1. Haslem’s foul should be upgraded to Flagrant 2. The bottom line is that the referees need know formerly know they didn’t call the play properly. I doubt he gets a suspension and they probably address it via fine which accomplishes nothing.

I think Pittman gets a minimum of 5 games, but I’m thinking 10 is possible. Bynum’s clothesline of Barea last year sets the minimum.

  2. Seems like players get punished for getting up quickly after a hard foul – if this is one of the criteria for determining a flagrant 2. Doesn’t make sense to me, especially when there is talk of getting rid of flopping.

  3. dickjerk is my new fav insult. Thanks Melas

  4. Of course players can’t be this physical in today’s game, but I love it. And I don’t understand why the Pacers are trying to act like victims, isn’t this what they wanted?!?!

  5. I think Haslem was aiming for Hansborough’s shoulder. He wanted to take him to the ground, but I don’t think he was trying to hit him in the head. I like the play as a double retaliation shot on his part, but he deserves a 1 game suspension as he did end up catching Psycho T in the head and made no play on the ball.

  6. Cool Shane Warne picture in the beginning

  7. Sucka my dickjerk.

  8. Is a dickjerk someone that is so much of a jerk that that term just doesnt do him justice so he has to be upgraded to a dickjerk? Maybe its should be hyponated when typed.

  9. That uncalled Flagrant 2 actually made me turn the game off. Not throwing out the 3rd best player on Miami’s team shifted the game’s direction. Indiana could’ve pulled it off had Haslem been tossed. Instead it gives the impression, rightly so, that Miami can and will do anything without repercussion. Knowing that the rules are bent for them has to have a psychological affect on both teams. Wade and Lebron consistently get away with offensive fouls/pushes and in turn still get the and 1. It’s honestly garbage. The Playoffs so far have made me turn my back on the NBA. Awful, inconsistent calls. Mia could be the better team, but they still cheat to get to the final result. The joke of the NBA feeling like WWF seems to be coming true. OKC-MIA finals. Good vs. Evil. Joke storylines if it actually comes true.

  10. Ok everyone let’s relax in terms of the outcome of the game. Haslem played 17 minutes. This was a blowout in every sense of the word. If you think this tilted the game in favor of Miami, you must either be an over the top Pacers fan or an over the top Miami hater.

Haslem will most likely be suspended. Probably should have been tossed. BUT I think the referees do try to avoid throwing out any player unless it’s really obvious or the game is already in hand. I’m not saying its right, but I don’t think its unique to Miami.

In this case – the foul being on ball and Hansborough being ok – I’m actually not shocked he didn’t get tossed and I think the same would have happened if it were Hansborough on Haslem. I do think he should be suspended – I just mean I’m not surprised the officials didn’t want to eject people.

And yes – Wade and LeBron get more calls than people on the Pacers (who have no superstars) that’s been the story in the NBA for as long as I’ve been alive. Durant also gets calls like that and Kobe often does as well.

  11. Nothing like a long dick jerk, Tas

  12. It’s Osten, you dickjerk.
