Join The Jones on the sonic journey that is The Overdose Olympics!

On today’s show, TBJ recaps the four quarterfinal games of the men’s Olympic basketball tournament in London, England. Topics include: LeBron’s triple-double, USA’s hilarious defense, more threes, Barbosa breaking Nocioni’s ankles, the Argentineans’ ball movement, a frustrated Batum punching JCN in the groin, Llull’s defense on TP, Kirilenko’s do-it-all line, and why Lithuania refused to play Valanciunas more minutes.

All that, plus an Aussie sings Neil Diamond’s “America,” stripper poles, a chilled out Russian high jumper, and American rower Henrik Rummel’s “Ol’ Jasper.”

So give your eyes a rest, and embrace this audio explosion.

  3. I only started listening 2 weeks ago, but this was possibly the best pod-cast ever, strong finishers!!

  4. Tas’s story is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a while

  5. that picture….. …..
    no tights for me

  6. FWIW, “Matilda” was the colloquial term for the bedroll of the itinerant, homeless workers during the late 19th century depression. “Waltzing Matilda” was what they called the walking from farm to farm looking for work.

  7. Tas deserved 3 gold medals for that story. Great show guys.

  8. If that was indeed a “softie jasper,” how inferior do you think homeboy on the left feels?

  9. That picture is ridiculous

  10. The US is going to have more than one of the quarters against Argentina. They are going to come out and absolutely look to embarrass them after the cheap shot on Melo. If Argentina felt bad after losing by 29, I hope they are prepared to lose by 50+.

  11. why does rowing call for super tight shorts anyway? I bet the next olympics have a baggy trend going on after this bonergate.

  12. I’d say Westbrook is doing decently on the defensive front. He at least turns it on at times. He’s good for one or two pestering the ballhandler at half-court and getting a steal and breakaway dunk.

  13. Man oh man, these Olympic fixes are the best!

  14. Looks like weren’t quite right about LeBron having the first triple-double in Olympic history –

On July 27, 1976 Aleksandr Belov of the Soviet Union had the first one.
He had 23 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a game against Canada.

The first one in Olympic women’s basketball was by
Joo-Weon Chun of Korea on Sept. 24, 2000 when she scored 10 points and
had 10 rebounds and 11 assists in a game against Cuba.

  16. Well done guys! Can’t wait for Lee’s cover album of ND songs!
