In the shocker of the Olympics, Team USA won the gold medal in men’s basketball. In related news, one clause of that sentence is completely false. You figure it out, and while you are, I’ll proceed to tell you that since Team USA did win the gold, now is the time for you to get your Meme Team-related paraphernalia. The best of it is what you’ll see in this post, which is fairly amazing since both of them are derived from cartoons and we’re not 12 any more.
Nonetheless, that’s the case, so let’s start with that t-shirt you see up top. Since all 12 players and bekhakied coach Mike Krzyzewski all have Nike deals, it comes from Nike, and it’s available for $29.95. And if you’re a child of the 1990s, you love it. I’m not sure I think people are wanting a shirt with all these huge basketball superstars to have Coach K in the front, but it’s still pretty awesome. I had every one of these for the Bulls titles and these kind of things are hard for me to pass up. You’ve done it again, Nike.
The other cartoonski product is after the jump.
These bad riders are a Nike collaboration with Korean artist Coolrain and they’re also awesome. Not sure when or where you’ll be able to get ‘em, but who wouldn’t love a tiny scoring machine sitting on their desk? We all would, I’m sure. It’s just too bad there’s not a khaki clad Coach K to go with these, is what I’m sure no one is saying. But really, these are great. The details and accessories are awesome, from the facial hair to the various headbands and support sleeves on down to the miniature signature shoes they’re wearing. You can see detailed shots of all of them at High Snobiety and I’m guessing you will agree they are all very cool.
Unfortunately, I think we’ve reached the pinnacle of cartoon Team USA memorabilia creation. I’m honestly not sure where we can go from here, cartoon-wise. Let’s enjoy it while we can before we start getting cartoon stuff like when they started making those steroidal Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the late 1990s. I don’t know about you guys, but I like my cartoons to look goofy, not tough.
