Just when Dwyane Wade thought he had shut down the whole glasses thing, Russell Westbrook gets tabbed by GQ to “[pick] this season’s best frames.” Really.

And not just that, he took things to another level, deciding whether or not the frames should stay in or out (really), then recommending which NBA players should wear them. Some choice quotes:

“These can definitely be dressy or casual. Perfect for a business party.”

“You definitely have to have some sort of swag to throw these on.”

“Yeah, this is a smart look, Maybe wear this with a bow tie or something like that of that nature.”

“These remind me of the movie, Paid in Full. They’re versatile.”

Oh, and this is what he picked for Kevin Durant.

Not only does he want Kevin Durant to wear some Cillian Murphy glasses, he also recommends that the lenses be taken out. This means, essentially, that Kevin Durant should wear a thin strip of metal with a nosepiece across his face. This is legitimately insane and I hope it never happens. Ever. That will ruin the Oklahoma City Thunder for me.

In conclusion, this really happened even though it seems like something you’d see on The Onion, the glasses trend is never going to die and will continue to get stupider, and finally, ugh. Thank you for staying tuned to TBJ, your home for the finest in NBA Talking About Style Wars 2012.
