Ep. 878: Keep Losing

On Monday’s live episode of “The Fix,” The Jones fire though some weekend winners and losers. Thumbs up for the Lakers slowly getting it together, the Nets’ defense, LeBron and Miami toying with teams, Harrison Barnes’ dunk, Jonas Valanciunas, and TP. Thumbs down for the win-less Wizards, new Andrew Bynum news, the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves, and those freakin’ Raptors, I guess. (They’re killing me.)

All that, plus Jrue Holiday, Vegemite, and the 100th Grey Cup champions.

  1. Here’s that Bullets Forever post I discuss on the show.

  2. when you guys puttin up the vid on youtube i wanna see yall faces… no homo do

  3. Nice sweatshirt Trey. It looks like it was one of those ones with the front pocket for your hands where you can say, no that’s not a spare tire, that’s just the extra fabric for the pocket. Is Skeets molting?

  4. very short episode after the weekend… still tweaking after that fix.

  5. Harrison Barnes’ dunk didn’t even make the top 10 plays for Sunday… Whoever did the top 10 plays is a joke.

    • @Steven: It was No. 2 from Saturday’s top plays. – Leigh

      • Loving that you sign your posts even though your name is at the top of the posts. That’s just flat out courteous. – Heelociraptor

    • The Warriors game was still going on during SportsCenter. That happens often with West Coast games.

  6. Durant got preeeeeetty close to that 5×5 over the weekend..

  7. Tas, I don’t think it’s so ridiculous to think Jrue could be an All-Star in the East. Who’s outplaying him besides Rondo and Irving?

    • Brandon Jennings? His team is better, or at least more consistent.

    • No, that isn’t crazy at all in the east. East crop is pretty weak – next best are Jennings, Ellis, Deron and possibly Felton.

Sixers have to keep their record up though, which won’t be easy.

    • With that said, I think I like Jrue better. His shooting numbers are so much better than Jennings, which I did not realize before I made that previous statement

  8. Definitely a Winslet today. Weekend Winners and Losers is becoming my favorite weekly segment. A meaty start to the week.

  9. Terrence Jone’s dunk was pretty sick as well

  10. Besides the Twolves starting backcourt of Luke and Lee, Shved is just killing them. Shved can’t shvoot.

  11. Very surprised you guys didn’t have the Clips (as a team, EVERYBODY on them) on the “Losers” list. First they get beaten by a Nets team that frankly, didn’t play that well. They scored 51 points in the last three quarters, Blake scored 2 in the second half and ended the game with 4 points in the paint against a frontcourt with only one legitimate defender (Reggie Evans) who is hardly a rim-protector, Chris Paul had 0 points and 3 turnovers in the 4th quarter, at one point VDN went with Hollins AND Turiaf simultaneously instead of going with DeAndre Jordan (24 minutes, 12 points and 13 rebounds, 8 offensive), and overall gave Hollins waaay too many minutes (3 boards), only giving Bledsoe 12 minutes (he didn’t play great though), they kept going to Blake isolations against Evans instead of putting him in pick and rolls (or exposing Brook Lopez), the bench was horrible…As I said, the Nets didn’t really play them that well (they shot poorly and were getting crushed on the boards, was 24-12 at half), the Clippers just played much worse.

Then they follow that up with getting their asses kicked by the Hawks. I didn’t watch this game so I can’t comment on it too much. Suffice it to say that while I like this Hawks team they’re hardly title contenders, which is the sort of rarefied air this Clips team was getting put into after their strong start.

So the Clippers: my losers of the weekend. Also my team, the Raptors, but that seems to go without saying. Most agonizing season ever.

  12. Whoa, is it just me or is Trey turning into that Ecce Homo fresco that crazy old Spanish lady restored in August?

  13. isnt the knicks vs brooklyn game supposed to be on tsn2?

  14. Another brutal loss for Skeets. Bucks came back from 17 down in the 4th.
