Ballin: Welcome back to NBA basketball, Carmelo Anthony. 34 points, three threes, 11-16 from the line, six boards and two steals because apparently Carmelo Anthony does everything now that he has a hurt finger. Well, except pass (one assist), but give him a break, geez. His finger hurts.

Not so much: Through 41 minutes, the Toronto Raptors had 80 points. Through 48 minutes, the Toronto Raptors had 83 points. In those seven minutes, the Raptors missed nine shots, turned the ball over twice and had a player ejected. Pretty bad seven minutes, all things considered.

Formula: Sometimes, if you make mistakes while moving very fast, they look like highlights.

This is exactly why you should always throw outlet passes as hard and as far as you possibly can, because sometimes they turn in to wonderful plays.

Matchups: During yesterday’s Nets-Bucks game, one starting backcourt was made up of two All-Stars and one was made up of two guys who sometimes seem like they should be All-Stars but haven’t been. The non-All-Stars outscored the All-Stars 50-24.

Roundies: The other night, we were playing NBA 2K13 and I had to guard DeMarre Carroll, so I asked what he’s good at video game-wise. Apparently, the answer is 360 layups.

This is literally the only DeMarre Carroll shot I remember.

Pointklahoma City: The OKC Thunder have scored 100 or more points in 12 straight games, including 104 in their win yesterday over the Pacers. It’s their ninth straight win, which is more than 10 individual teams have this season.

Sneaky: Here is Jack Nicholson recording his first NBA steal.

After seeing that defensive acumen from an aging veteran, the New York Knicks offered Jack Nicholson a two-year contract with a player option for year three.

Best. Game. Ever.: Andrew Nicholson (Jack’s brother) scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the Magic’s road win against the Suns.

Other things: I’m not sure if DeMar DeRozan’s no-looker from last night or Kyle Lowry’s super floater is the better Raptors shot that didn’t count, but they’re certainly putting together quite the portfolio … Just a reminder that Alexey Shved loves catsThis is the face you make when you airball a 3-pointer that could have brought your team within a point halfway through the fourth quarter … Phil “Cool Shirt” Jackson over here … And Jason “Great Helmet” Kidd is over here
