Few sporting events capture the attention and imagination of casual or even non-fans like the annual madness of the NCAA basketball tournament, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is no different.
We’ve discussed the impressive list of Canadians in this year’s tourney already. On Thursday afternoon, Harper offered some words of encouragement to a few of them…
Good luck to @ab15__ @bigkelz13 @kpangos @simbhullar2 and all the other Canadians competing in the #NCAA Tournament.
— Stephen Harper (@pmharper) March 21, 2013
For the record, the players mentioned in the tweet are UNLV’s Anthony Bennett, Gonzaga combo Kelly Olynyk and Kevin Pangos, and New Mexico State big man Sim Bhullar, who will all be in action today, beginning with Bhullar’s Aggies at 2:10 p.m. ET.
This isn’t the first time that Harper has taken notice of Canada’s rising basketball talent.
