There’s a reason No. 6 UCLA was immediately picked as the team most vulnerable to an early round upset when the bracket was unveiled, as with Jordan Adams’ season ending injury in the Pac-12 tournament, the team’s horrible rebounding numbers and the minor scandal revolving around Shabazz Muhammad being a year older than the basketball world had been led to believe, there was just a ton of negativity surrounding the Bruins heading into their opening matchup agains No. 11 Minnesota.
With the Bruins then being trounced and quickly disposed of by the Golden Gophers in that game, the expected firing of Howland seems a fitting end to a trying season for the storied program.
