Temple v Indiana

Temple looked more than capable of sending No. 1 Indiana packing in the East Region, but some costly Owl errors and a dagger from Victor Oladipo salvaged a ton of brackets around the world.

The No. 9 Owls took the lead with about three minutes remaining in the first half and held that lead until the final couple of minutes of the second half, when a collection of free throws from Cody Zeller and Oladipo pushed the Hoosiers back in front. As it turns out, those free throws were part of a 10-0 Indiana run to close out the game, but the real nail in Temple’s coffin was this shot from Oladipo.

Temple, who got another beastly performance from senior Khalif Wyatt (31 points), just collapsed under the Indiana pressure down the stretch, going 0-for-6 in the final three minutes, which included a missed layup from Scootie Randall and Anthony Lee coming out on the wrong end of this monstrous block from Christian Watford:

Oladipo finished with 16 points and eight rebounds while shooting an efficient 7-of-12 for the Hoosiers, proving his worth when it mattered most. As for fellow NBA prospect Zeller, the big man left much more to be desired in a 15-point, six-rebound performance that saw him shoot just 4-of-10 from the field and commit six turnovers.

In spite of Zeller’s weak showing, Indiana marches on to the Sweet 16, though they look more than a little vulnerable heading into a matchup with an underrated Syracuse side.
